Abut Essex Pride

Eight years of LGBT celebration and Pride

This year makes the eighth year for Essex Pride and we've come a long way from the first "Chelmsford Gay-day", we've outgrown not just name and venue but have also grown into an Essex wide event to showcase diversity, encourage acceptance, and celebrate our differences in an environment that promotes equality, respect, and community cohesion.

The original idea behind the event was to bring the Essex LGBT Community together, in a celebration of unity with people from all walks of life. We continue in this tradition, the party's gotten bigger and its much more of a community celebration which attracts thousands of LGBT and non-LGBT people from the wider Essex community and beyond.

We need volunteer stewards on the day to make it safe and enjoyable for everyone, why not join us to help 2011 be a great year for Essex Pride.

Behind the scenes of Essex Pride sits the Essex Pride Committee, a dedicated group of people who spend months fundraising and planning an event which they hope you enjoy as much as they do planning it. Committee members include representatives from a variety of statutory and voluntary groups including:

Action4Men
Essex Police
Colchester Gay Switchboard
Essex Gay Christians
Terrance Higgins Trust
Basildon Council
Chelmsford Borough Council
Essex Drugs & Alcohol Team
LGBT group EGM (formerly Essex Gay Men)

An event of this scale would not be possible if it wasn’t for the continued support that Essex Pride receives from supporters and sponsors, please help us by supporting them.
